BUKIT MERTAJAM: Penang PAS is eyeing 20 state seats in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Nevertheless, said its state commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusof, the final decision rested with the party's central leadership.
PAS would consider the views of the 'Dewan Himpunan Penyokong PAS dan Gagasan Sejahtera' to either affirm or reduce the number of seats, he told reporters after a GE14 message by party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on wresting Permatang Pauh here, last night.
On the 20 seats and potential candidates, he said PAS would let the public know in due course.
"We are still in discussions on the candidates. But we will nominate the best candidates for the people in Penang," he said.
Earlier, Abdul Hadi announced that PAS would field a candidate in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency and candidates for the state seats of Seberang Jaya, Permatang Pasir and Penanti during GE14.
In GE13, PAS contested in two parliamentary areas (Kepala Batas and Tasek Gelugor) and six state seats (Penaga, Permatang Berangan, Sungai Dua, Permatang Pasir, Sungai Acheh and Bayan Lepas).
It won only the Permatang Pasir state seat, which is held by Datuk Mohd Salleh Man, who is PAS' sole representative in Penang. — Bernama
