Police raid two gambling dens in Miri city

MIRI: Police raided two illegal gaming houses in Miri City and arrested 25 suspects, last week.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the first raid led by Insp Nasrul Hadi Jahat was conducted on Feb 2 at 5.55pm at a shoplot above a spare parts shop at Krokop.
"Police had to cut open the padlock to enter the premises; 13 men aged between 21 and 59 were arrested for playing 'pai kow' and cash amounting to RM5,152 as well as gambling chips valued at RM500 and RM1,000 were also seized," he said in a statement today.
He said the second raid was conducted on Feb 4 at 12.30am at a shoplot at Simpang Ngu, Niah led by Insp Mizlan Abdul Ghani, during which 12 men aged between 25 and 52 were nabbed for pai kow.
The CID also seized cash amounting to RM2,455, gambling chips worth between RM50 and RM1,000 and other gambling paraphernalia, he added. — Bernama
