Stop speculation on Riduan, Indira Gandhi: IGP

ULU BERNAM: The police have advised the people against making any kind of speculation in the case of Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, who has reportedly failed to hand over his youngest daughter to his ex-wife M. Indira Gandhi.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said today that the police had deployed teams to trace Muhammad Riduan.
"This is a sensitive matter. Assumptions can jeopardise public order and national security," he said at a press conference after launching the road-safety campaign 'Op Selamat 12' in conjunction with the Chinese New Year and the Central Zone Expressway Investigation Unit at the Ulu Bernam Rest Area.
Mohamad Fuzi had said in a statement that efforts were ongoing to trace Muhammad Riduan, previously known as K. Pathmanathan, based on a warrant of committal issued by the Ipoh High Court on May 30, 2014.
The statement was issued following the remark by Indira Gandhi that the police had no excuse not to look for and arrest her former husband, who she claimed had failed to hand over their daughter to her.
On Jan 29, the Federal Court ruled that both spouses, the one who embraced Islam and the non-converting partner, must give their consent in order to convert a minor child to Islam.
The couple’s three children, two daughters and a son, are 20, 19 and nine. Muhammad Riduan, 47, had changed the religion of their children to Islam in April 2009 without the agreement of Indira Gandhi after he himself had embraced Islam.
In 2016, the Federal Court ordered the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Muhammad Riduan for not having complied with a High Court order to hand over their youngest daughter Prasana Diksa to his former wife.
In 2010, the Ipoh High Court had given Indira Gandhi full custody of their three children and ordered Muhammad Riduan to hand over Prasana Diksa to the mother. — Bernama
