Boost musters users with red launch

AXIATA's homegrown e-wallet mobile application, Boost, recently launched a Paint The Town Red campaign to attract more users to the cashless payment platform with an experiential media launch and a Chinese New Year-themed promotion.
The Paint The Town Red campaign consists of QR codes that are spread throughout the Klang Valley by Boost's online and offline partner merchants nationwide.
Scanning these QR will nab users exclusive surprises, including ang pows that grant users credits in their Boost accounts.
Boost will also introduce more ways to get these ang pows from now to Feb 28.
Users can also get ang pows, each with actual cash value, by paying with Boost at physical outlets and online stores, purchasing digital vouchers and prepaid top ups, paying their Celcom postpaid bill, and by joining and sharing the ang pow game.
"Boost is thrilled to be bringing Malaysians a seamless and secure digital experience via their smartphones," said Christopher Tiffin, chief executive officer of Boost.
"We live in a very exciting time where technology has become an important part of our lives, and with Boost we aim to ease the way we transact in our daily lives.
"Our ambition is to be the preferred method for consumers to transact digitally. We believe that by combining consumer lifestyle needs and innovative digital technology, Boost makes transactions easier, faster, more secure and the experience more rewarding."
Currently, Boost touts over 800,000 users and over 5,500 online and offline merchants. It aims to have 10,000 merchant partners by the end of the year.
This includes selected pasar malam, food trucks, food courts and across various industries such as F&B, entertainment, transportation, online shopping and bookstores.
Boost is a cashless app-based payment alternative in the same ilk as Paywave, Maybank's QR Pay, and Samsung Pay. Instead of using a payment terminal, Boost relies on QR codes on the user's devices to process a transaction.
With static QR codes, users will have to enter the correct payment amount and their pin number to make a payment. However, with an automatically generated QR code, the amount will be included when the user scans it.
Boost also works on like a debit card, where users will have to deposit money into their Boost account to use it.
The app can also be used to send and request money. There is also a feature that allows users to split the amount of a bill between several people, which Boost claims is a feature that you do not usually find on an e-payment system.
The Boost App is available on the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.
