Man dies following alleged croc attack

    LAHAD DATU: A man's efforts to gather cockles with his son as a source of income ended on a tragic note when he succumbed to injuries following an alleged crocodile attack at Sungai Ladang Seberang Peringkat 5 near here yesterday evening.
    In his report, Mustahan Datu Usai, 15, told the police the reptile had lashed out at his father with its tail before the victim became entangled with a tree branch in the river.
    At that juncture, the boy said, the crocodile dragged his father to the river bank before it disappeared underwater in the incident about 6pm.
    In a statement here today, Lahad Datu police chief, ACP Hamzah Ahmad said the victim who had sustained injuries on the chest and hands, and scratch marks on the body, was sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital's intensive care unit where he died upon admission.
    He said the deceased did not possess any personal identification document.
    Hamzah said the police were investigating Mustahan's report on the crocodile attack. — Bernama
