KLANG: The police busted a syndicate which smuggled syabu to Indonesia, with the arrest of four men, including the suspected mastermind.
They also seized 29.35kg of the drug worth about RM2.05 million in three raids at Pulau Indah, here on Saturday.
Bukit Aman Narcotics CID deputy director (Intelligence/Operations) DCP Datuk Kang Chez Chiang said during the raids between 10.45pm and 11.30pm, the police also seized a Perodua Viva car and Indonesian currency amounting to two million rupiah (RM545).
"The drug was found in the first raid at a house in Kampung Perigi Nenas here, hidden in four barrels stored in the boot of a taxi belonging to the first suspect who was a local resident.
"The raid led to the arrest of a 44-year-old Indonesian, suspected to be the mastermind, in Persiaran Masjid Sultan, while two other members of the syndicate were nabbed at a petrol station, also in Pulau Indah," he told a press conference at the South Klang police headquarters, here today.
Also present was South Klang police chief, ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli.
Kang said the arrest of the two local men and two Indonesian men, aged between 27 and 44, was the result of intelligence sharing between the Royal Malaysia Police and the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia.
"We believe the drugs were meant to be smuggled to Aceh, Indonesia by sea," he said, adding that the police believed the drugs were brought here from neighbouring countries before being sent to Indonesia for sale at a price three times higher than the market price in Malaysia. — Bernama
