Canteen worker in remand over baby's death

TAIPING: A canteen employee is remanded for six days beginning today in connection with the death of a baby girl, believed to have been abused, at her home in Kampung Paya Baru, Tekah here last Monday (Feb 5).
The remand order against the 21-year-old suspect, believed to be the victim's father, was issued by Court Registrar Noraishah Ahmad at the Magistrate's Court here today.
Yesterday, Taiping district police chief ACP Mohamad Taib told a media conference that police received a report from Taiping Hospital that six-month-old Nur Khayra Mohamad Amirul Asnil, who was admitted for treatment on Feb 2 died at 7.30am last Monday.
A post-mortem report on the child by the Raja Permaisuri BainunHospital found that she died of a blunt force trauma to her head.
The case is investigated under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. — Bernama
