SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) has yet to resolve its seat negotiation in the state, with progress currently stalled at 62%, with 21 out of 56 state seats still up for grabs.
An hour-long negotiation at the PKR state election office in Vista Alam, among the four PH parties, namely PKR, DAP, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) failed to yield any consensus
While acknowledging the discussion went well, party representatives acknowledged there were overlapping issues that needed to be addressed.
Thirty-one out of the 35 agreed seats are incumbent seats, currently being held by DAP (15), PKR (14) and Amanah (2).
DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo (pix) confirmed that not all of the seat negotiations could be resolved at the meeting.
"We have managed to resolve 35 seats, which is 60% to 62% of the seats in total," he said.
"What we are going to do next is bilateral talks and trilateral talks between parties individually before we come back to our next meeting to make headway," he told reporters when met after the meeting.
Gobind, however, refused to divulge the details of the 35 confirmed seats, adding that it would be announced in the future.
Gobind said no time frame was set to conclude the seat allocation but he expected it to be resolved as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Amanah deputy chairman Saari Sungib said his party is demanding 20 state seats to be contested in the next election.
However, Saari said the party is willing to discuss and relinquish four or five seats to PPBM.
“Our principle is that we will not touch the seats of DAP and PKR. We can discuss with PPBM,” he added.
Selangor PH secretary Zuraida Kamaruddin said all component parties will engage in an intensive negotiation throughout the week.
She added another meeting will be held among the parties today (Thursday) at 3pm.
“The principle is incumbent seats will stay... there are seats that are being claimed by all four parties, some by three parties and two parties,” she added.
