Remand extended for couple suspected of abusing daughter

PORT DICKSON: The magistrate's court here today allowed an application by the police to extend for seven days from today the remand of a married couple in connection with the death of their daughter.
Magistrate Siti Khariah Abdul Razak allowed the application for the couple, aged 35 and 34, to be further remanded following the expiry of the existing remand order, which was issued last Feb 2.
The couple, comprising the victim's father and her step-mother, were arrested on Feb 1 after a report was lodged on the death of a nine-year-old girl, believed to have been abused, at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJS) in Seremban.
According to the police, the girl was found unconscious by her father at their house in Lukut .
The girl was then taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead and an examination of her body found bruises all over. — Bernama
