Ringgit down vs US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit fell against the US dollar today on selling in the local note, a dealer said.
At 6pm, the local note ended at 3.9245/9275 against the greenback, from 3.9070/9100 on Wednesday.
The dealer said the US dollar had hit a two-week high versus a basket of major currencies as European share prices fell, hence becoming the hit currency among traders.
"The declining oil prices also caused the ringgit to fall at today's close," he said.
However, the ringgit closed mostly higher against a basket of major currencies.
It went up against the Singapore dollar to 2.9496/9523 from 2.9614/964 yesterday and rose versus the yen to 3.5759/5789 from 3.5811/5849 previously.
It also strengthened against the euro to 4.7993/7041 from 4.8248/8292 on Thursday. It, however, was slightly lower against the British pound to 5.4394/4439 from 5.4389/4447. — Bernama
