PUTRAJAYA: The Educational Tour Programme of the Education Ministry (KPM) 2018 beginning today will become the platform in displaying the achievements in the field of education and student outcome at all levels of education.
Secretary-general of the ministry Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad said the annual programme to be held in six major towns would also focus on giving education on current issues besides sharing information with the public.
The six locations selected were Langkawi, Kedah (Feb 22 to 24), Pasir Puteh, Kelantan (March 8 to 10), Parit Buntar, Perak (March 30 to April 1), Temerloh, Pahang (April 13 to 15) and Tawau, Sabah (April 20 to 22).
"Through the programme, we will explain in detail the new policy and transformation in education. Many people do not understand the curriculum in school, and there are also quarters who are confusing them.
"So, the tour programme is the best platform to explain to the public and they too can ask various questions pertaining to pre-school up to secondary school education,"he said after the programme to flag off the KPM Educational Tour Programme 2018 at the ministry grounds here today.
Alias said the first phase of the programme had begun with 'gotong-royong' (mutual help) activities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Khir Johari, Beranang, Semenyih which involved the participation of the top management of the ministry in cleaning the school, surau, mosque and surrounding areas.
"This is an effort to create closer relations between parents and the local community,"he said.
With the theme "Helming Transformation", Alias said the programme involved various government agencies and the private sector which targetted the community while the KPM became the true friend in implementing the government agenda.
The Educational Tour Programme which was formerly known as "The Clients Day" was the ministry's programme to go down to the ground which had been given a new breath of life and implemented since 2005.
Alias said the ministry was also organising a programme to brief the people on KPM policies at SMK Bandar Baru in Sungai Long, Kajang tomorrow with the focus on current issues and sharing information with the community. — Bernama
