PETALING JAYA: A screen-capture of a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showing Dutch model Ivana Smit has emerged. The footage shows her being carried out by a man from what appears to be a night club, hours before her body was found on the balcony of an apartment.
Her family's lawyer, Sebas Diekstra, who is also helping Smit's family to find out the cause of her death on Dec 7 last year, uploaded a screenshot of the alleged CCTV footage on his Twitter account.
"New surveillance camera footage surfaced showing Ivana Smit in a club in Malaysia just hours before her death. The footage shows a man carrying the 18-year-old Dutch model out of the club," he was reported as saying by a Dutch newspaper.
The picture, with a time stamp of Dec 7, 5.22am, was made available with the help of a private investigator hired by Smit's family, Diekstra added.
In the Dec 7 last year incident, 19-year-old Ivana was found dead on the balcony of the sixth floor of an apartment building in Jalan Dang Wangi, where she had stayed with an American man and his wife from Kazakhstan on the 20th floor.
Earlier, she was reported to have gone out to an entertainment outlet with the couple.
Smit's body was kept at a hospital morgue in Kuala Lumpur Hospital for 21 days before being repatriated to the Netherlands for cremation. Her funeral received wide coverage from the Dutch media.
Ivana, who had dual Dutch and Belgian citizenship, was the second runner-up in the Malaysia Supermodel Search 2014 when she was 15 years old.
