Veteran Bernama journalist Zainal Abidin Bujal dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Zainal Abidin Bujal, a veteran journalist with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), died last night. He was 72.
Zainal Abidin died at about 10.30pm of a lung infection at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, said his wife Arfah Yussof, 70.
She said Zainal Abidin had been under treatment for leukemia for the past 14 days at the medical centre but was unable to undergo chemotherapy due to the lung infection.
Zainal Abidin, who had been with Bernama for over 20 years, also leaves behind a son and a daughter.
"My late husband had a friendly disposition and got along well with his colleagues at Bernama. He was fond of children and often cracked jokes with them," said Arfah.
She said Zainal Abidin would be buried after the Zohor prayers at the Kota Damansara Muslim Cemetery following funeral rites at the Al-Hidayah Mosque in Jalan SS3/44 Kelana Jaya, Selangor. — Bernama
