DID director released on RM100,000 bail (Updated)

ALOR STAR: The Director of the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) who was detained to assist investigation into a case of corruption and abuse of power on Jan 29 was today released on a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.
Alor Star Lower Court Senior Assistant Registrar Wan Nor Fadzilah Wan Ibrahim allowed the release of the 60-year-old director on a MACC bail of RM100,000 with one surety.
Earlier, the director was remanded for 13 days from Jan 30 until Feb 11 while two company owners aged 39 and 50 who were remanded together with the director concerned had been released on a MACC surety of RM15,000 (deposit) with one surety on Feb 5.
On Jan 29, the MACC was reported to have detained a DID director aged 60 together with the owners of two companies aged 39 and 50 at a MACC office.
The MACC also impounded a bank account amounting to RM2.9 million and seized almost RM900,000 in cash at the house of one of the company owners detained. — Bernama
