More than 10,000 participants for KL World Urban Run

KUALA LUMPUR: About 10,700 participants from within and outside the country took part in the KL World Urban Run 2018 at the Dataran Merdeka, here today.
Among others, the run aimed to give awareness to the community on urbanisation and the development of Kuala Lumpur city as the host for the 9th World Urban Forum (WUF9).
The run was flagged off by Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar.
The run was divided into three categories involving a distance of 15km, 10km and 5km and offering total prizes amounting to almost RM50,000.
The KL World Urban Run was also participated by the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in the 10km category while Noh also completed the run in the 5km category.
WUF9 is being held from Feb 7 until 13.
WUF is a non-legislative technical forum convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) since 2002.
It is recognised as the foremost global arena for interaction among policymakers, local government leaders, non-governmental organisations and expert practitioners in the field of sustainable urban development and human settlements. — Bernama
