160 individuals arrested by police for illegal gambling in Sarawak

MIRI: In an ongoing blitz against illegal gambling in Sarawak, the police arrested 160 individuals in 97 raids during a week-long operation which ended yesterday.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the raids were conducted from Feb 5 to 11 involving selling of illegal 4D, cyber gambling, gambling in a gaming house and gambling in a public place statewide.
He said the 160 individuals arrested, aged between 16 and 61, comprised 90 men.
Eight foreigners were among those arrested and police also seized RM30,000, as well as various gambling paraphernalia, he said in a statement today.
He said all those arrested were being investigated for offences under the Common Gaming House Act 1953. — Bernama
