Car salesman charged with injuring son twice

AMPANG JAYA: A car salesman claimed trial today to two charges of injuring his teenage son at the magistrate court.
The 44-year-old man, who was not represented, pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read in front of magistrate Haslinda A. Rauf.
Based on the charges, he was accused of injuring his 16-year-old son at an apartment on Jalan Datuk Ahmad Razali, Ampang on Feb 7 at 3:53pm and at 9pm on the same day.
He was charged under Section 324/326A of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping or fine, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Raihanah Abd Razak asked tor bail of RM5,000 for each charge and said there were no witnesses to the alleged offences.
In his mitigation, he pleaded for a lesser bail amount as he works as a car salesman and only earns about RM3,000 a month.
Magistrate Haslinda A Rauf fixed bail at a total of RM6,000 with one guarantor and ordered him not to disturb the victim.
