Housewife charged with cheating using non-existent TNB tender

AMPANG JAYA: A housewife was charged at the magistrate's court here today with four charges of cheating a woman on a non-existent Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) tender amounting to RM15,600.
Siti Sarah Rahman Shah, 33 who was not represented, pleaded not guilty to all four charges after they were read out in front of Magistrate Haslinda A. Rauf.
For the first charge she was accused of cheating Masni Haniza Mohamed Sazali of RM3,400 on Sept 1, 2017 at Maybank Taman Melawati for a non-existent TNB tender.
The second to the fourth charges were allegedly committed at an apartment in Bukit Antarabangsa where she was said to have cheated the victim using the same tactic.
Masni Hasniza was said to have been cheated of RM2,500 on Sept 11, RM9,200 on Sept 18 and RM500 on Oct 8 at the apartment.
She was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code and faced and imprisonment for up to 10 years and with whipping and is also liable to fine, if found guilty.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihanah Abd Razak offered bail amounting to RM20,000 but the accused was granted bail at RM12,000.
Case has been fixed for March 23 for mention.
