KPDNKK seizes imitation shoes, sports accessories worth RM25,384

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor branch of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) seized 232 pairs of branded shoes and 144 units of sports accessories suspected to be imitations, worth RM25,384 during raids at four premises in the state, last week.
Its chief enforcement officer, Azman Adam said the shoes were seized in a raid at a clothing business premises in Puchong at about 12.30pm on Feb 7.
He said the raid was conducted following public and trademark representatives'complaints on the sale of branded footwear using false trade description.
Azman added that the next day the sports accessories were seized in three convenience stores around Subang Jaya.
"During inspections at the three premises we found ankle guards, knee guards and wrist supports, believed to be counterfeit goods valued at RM2,184," he told a press conference, here today.
He said the cases were being investigated under Section 8 (2) (b) of the Trade Description Act 2011 which carries a fine of RM15,000 (company or association) or RM10,000 (individual) for each product bearing false trade description or a jail term not exceeding three years, or both, upon conviction. — Bernama
