Woman charged with extorting a man for sending porn

BUTTERWORTH: A 30-year-old woman was charged in the sessions court today with three counts of extorting a man for sending a pornographic videos to her.
Noraniza Jelani was charged with abetting her ex-husband Muhammad Kasim A. Zamzani to extort money from one Yap Ing Choon in Taman Villa Mutiara, Simpang Ampat.
She allegedly committed the offense there on June 13, June 14 and Aug 17, 2015, through a phone number belonging to her ex-husband.
The factory worker is alleged to have tried to instill fear in Yap by telling him that a police report would be lodged against him for sending pornographic videos to her.
She demanded twice that RM1,000 and once that RM2,000 be transferred into her bank account.
The accused was charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code and faces up to 10 years of imprisonment, fine, caning, or to any two of the penalties if convicted.
Noraniza requested for a lower amount of bail because her salary as a factory worker is only RM1,000 and both her parents are ill.
Judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz set bail at RM10,000 and fixed Mar 9 for submission of documents and for her to appoint a lawyer.
She also issued a warrant of arrest for the second accused, Noraniza's ex-husband Muhammad Kasim, for not attending court today.
