Actor Sofi Jikan pleads not guilty to drug abuse

PETALING JAYA: Actor Sofi Jikan pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court here today to a drug abuse charge by administering the THC drug to himself last week.
The actor, whose real name is Mohamad Shoffi Jikan, 48, made the plea before Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya.
Sofi Jikan, who acted in the movie "KL Gansgter", was charged with self-administration of the THC drug, or 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydro cannabinol-9-carboxylic acid, at the narcotic Office of the Petaling Jaya District Police headquarters at 11.15 pm last Feb 6.
The charge, under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, or fine of RM5,000, or both, if found guilty.
The court allowed him bail of RM3,000 in one surety and fixed March 14 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy prosecuted, while the actor was represented by lawyer Datuk Haniff Hassan. — Bernama
