Police obtain a week remand order for suspect connected to the death of Indonesian maid

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have obtained a seven-day remand order for a suspect connected to the death of an Indonesian maid who was allegedly abused by two siblings last Saturday.
The remand order against the 60-year-old suspect who is the mother of the two siblings was issued by court registrar Nor Hapipah Abdullah following an application by the police.
The senior citizen who was arrested yesterday at Jalan Green Hall in George Town will be remanded until Feb 19 to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
On Saturday the victim Adelina Lisao, 26,  was rescued by officers working with Bukt Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong after neighbors found her sitting on the porch of the house in Taman Kota Permai with bruises and cuts, allegedly from abuse by her employers.
She was admitted at the Seberang Jaya Hospital on Sunday where she succumbed to her injuries.
