SK Kuala Muput badly damaged by flood

TATAU: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Muput, situated on the banks of Sungai Anap here, is one of the two schools in the Tatau district which suffered serious damage in the recent floods.
The school headmaster, Tony Madup, 55, said the recent flood was the fifth to affect the school since last Dec and the worst in the school history.
"99% of the school infrastructure were destroyed. We are very said because the school is an important institution for 112 students from 23 long houses in the area," he said when met at the school.
A survey by Bernama at the school found the place in a mess with the classrooms, students' hostel, teachers' quarters, dining hall, teachers' room and generator room damaged.
Six vehicles belonging to the school staff were still in flood water.
Tony, who is also president of the Tatau District Headmasters' Council, said the recent flood was the worst to affect the school which was built in 1963.
The school has 16 teachers and eight support staff. — Bernama
