Cook dies after being stabbed during robbery

JOHOR BARU: A female cook died after being stabbed during a robbery in Jalan Sutera 1, Taman Sutera, Yong Peng near here today.

Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said Tan Chi Ann, 46, was walking towards her home in Taman BCB, Yong Peng after visiting her mother when the incident happened about 1 am.

"She was found in a pool of blood (by a passer-by) about 1 am. There was a motorcycle, sling bag strap and a pair of slippers at the scene but the bag was believed to have taken by the suspect(s)," he said in a statement here today.

Abdul Wahib said the victim succumbed to her injuries at Pantai Hospital, Batu Pahat.

Initial medical examination revealed that the victim died of stab wounds to her left chest, he said.

He said the victim would go to her mother's house, located nearby, on a daily basis to cook after she returned from work.
