Do not share pictures of student killed in flying blade incident: MCMC

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has reminded the public not to upload and share the pictures of a Form Two student who was killed by a flying blade from a lawn tractor, via social media and mobile applications such as WhatsApp.
In a statement today, MCMC said such an unethical act is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, or a jail term not exceeding one year, or both, upon conviction.
Yesterday, the female student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR) in Gemas, Negri Sembilan, Nur Afini Roslan, was killed in the freak accident when the students at the school were having a rehearsal for the sports' day parade at the field.
Two other students were also injured in the incident. — Bernama
