Feel the difference at Mr DIY

FEEL the difference when walking into the newly launched Mr DIY flagship store designed to a new concept founded on modern and spacious interiors.
Having opened its doors on the third floor at Mid Valley Megamall on Feb 9, the store, popular for its wide range of products retailed at a lower-than-usual price, has a new premium style to its interiors.
Spread across over 15,000 sq ft, the new store provides customers with a new shopping experience.
Six cashier counters of Quartzstone finishing is situated at the entrance and a distinct design of a hexagon bolt-nut shape with a netlike design captivates, on the ceiling, in the middle of the store. Interiors at this premium outlet are wider and brighter, with more spacious aisles.
Aptly themed “Feel the difference”, shoppers will feel more comfortable and enjoy shopping here, especially with its easy-to navigate concept, providing over 20,000 product types across hardware, household, electrical, car accessories, stationery, toys, gifts, sports and jewellery and cosmetics.
“This is our 360th store in Malaysia and it is an important milestone for Mr DIY’s growth in the region, as we strive towards our vision to become the largest home improvement retailer in Asia Pacific,” said Mr DIY Trading Sdn Bhd’s head of marketing Andy Chin (pix, fourth left).
“2018 is set to be a prosperous year for Mr DIY as we have four major goals to achieve.
“Our first is to open an additional 300 new stores across the Asia-Pacific. Secondly, we will be expanding our reach to new countries like Singapore and potentially, the Philippines,” Chin added.
He also said the store will soon be launching the Mr DIY “E-Commerce” platform, while this flagship store marks its fourth goal.
It was reported that some RM2 million was spent in establishing this new concept store, which aims to become the top five in its chain of nationwide stores in terms of sales.
Mr DIY was initially set up as a hardware shop, which over the years has developed into something a lot more all-inclusive.
From household products, electrical items and such, it has become the largest “department store” chain with housewives forming the bulk of its customer base. Surprised?
Chin said that their main customers are housewives as the store provides many conveniences – “a store where one can find everything under one roof”.
In all, there are 450 Mr DIY stores in the Asia-Pacific region – 75 in Thailand, 10 in Indonesia and three in Brunei.
The launch of this new store was made official by Mr DIY managing director Y.Y. Tan, along with its business partner who is also the CEO of Creador, Brahmal Vasudevan.
The launch gambit included a lion dance, dotting of the lion’s eyes, and the dropping of a large banner to reveal the “Mr DIY family”, a group of employees. This took everyone by surprise.
On launch day, the first 300 visitors to the store were given limited-edition gifts worth more than RM3,800 in total. Winners of the chain’s “Buy, Snap and Win Contest” were also presented with prizes totalling some RM60,000. These included iPhone X and cash vouchers.
For now, follow Mr DIY on Facebook for promotions and more information.
