KUALA TERENGGANU: Throughout the four-day implementation of the Chinese New Year Festive Season's Price Control Scheme, 503 inspections were conducted at retail outlets while 12 wholesalers here were also inspected.
Terengganu's Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) director Saharuddin Mohd Kia said actions were taken against nine traders who failed to comply with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 in the state.
He said it involved compounds worth RM800 and seizures of goods worth RM466.60 for not putting up the pink price tag.
"Traders are advised to comply with the regulations set during the 12-day implementation of the Chinese New Year's Festive Season's Price Control Scheme. Consumers are advised to plan their expenses and be aware of the price control and duration of the scheme," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after conducting a joint operation with enforcement agencies in conjunction with the festive season's price control scheme involving 11 agencies, including the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Civil Defence Force, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority and the Health Department.
Saharuddin said the operation under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) concept involved 70 members, comprising 40 KPDNKK enforcement officers and 30 personnel from the other enforcement agencies.
He said that the operation focused on compliance with the regulations under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 as the ministry was in the process of enforcing the 12-day festive season's price control scheme beginning Feb 10. — Bernama
