Remand on siblings in maid abuse case extended

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The remand order against two siblings who allegedly abused their Indonesian maid to death has been extended by the magistrate's court here.
Court registrar Nor Hapipah Abdullah granted the remand extension from tomorrow to Feb 21 on the 39-year-old brother and his 36-year-old sister.
Clad in police lockup uniform, the suspects arrived separately in a police truck and police patrol car at about 945am.
After about an hour they have whisked away to a waiting police van.
They were arrested on Feb 10 and were remanded for four days since Feb 11 to facilitate investigation under Section 302.
On Feb 13, the siblings' 60-year-old mother was remanded for seven days in connection to the case.
On Saturday the victim Adelina Lisao, 26, was rescued by officers working with Bukt Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong after neighbours found her sitting on the porch of the house in Taman Kota Permai with bruises and cuts, allegedly from abuse by her employers.
She was admitted at the Seberang Jaya Hospital on Sunday where she succumbed to her injuries.
