Selangor state-level CNY celebration to be held on Feb 24

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will be organising its state-level 2018 Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 24, state senior executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim said yesterday.
The celebration, which will be held at Dataran Petaling Jaya beginning 7pm, is expected to be attended by some 11,000 people.
The event will also be graced by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who will be making their royal presence at 8pm.
Teng said other dignitaries attending the celebration are Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, state exco members as well as representatives from the embassies.
"Members of the public are welcomed to attend to enliven the Chinese New Year celebration," Teng said in a press conference at the state secretariat building.
Teng said Invest Selangor Berhad will again be part of the organising team for the event, which is one of the biggest celebration in Selangor for this year.
He added the event will also see the cooperation of several other state agencies and departments including the Petaling Jaya City Council, Tourism Selangor and Hijrah Selangor.
Teng said guests will also be entertained with various activities, such as cultural performances and handing over of 'ang pow' to children below the age of 12.
He said PJ City Bus services will be prepared for the public making their way to the venue from selected public transportation stations.
For those driving to the event, 12 parking areas with around 5,700 lots will be prepared.
Feeder bus services will also be available to transport visitors from the designated parking areas.
