JOHOR BARU: Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of winning the Mersing Parliamentary seat and two state assembly seats, Endau and Tenggaroh in the 14th General Election.
Johor BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Mersing was one of BN's 'fixed deposit' areas in the state and believed the local leaders would ensure the election operations went smoothly as planned.
"Mersing can be considered a BN 'fixed deposit' area and I believe the division head can retain it for BN," he told reporters when commenting on the preparations made by BN machinery in facing GE14.
Earlier, he attended the handing-over ceremony of offer letters for the resettlement of flood victims and squatter residents of Kampung Tanjung and Jalan Bulang to Kampung Londang Batu, Endau, here today.

Mohamed Khaled said Johor BN was also in the midst of drawing up the manifesto for GE14, focusing on development for the people, especially housing.
"It is not yet ready. When it is ready, we will present it. Yes, we have committed (to housing), we want to provide 100,000 units of Johor Affordable Homes (RMMJ) by 2023," he said.
On the event today, Khaled said the project would be on 3.68ha of government land and will benefit 156 families.
The resettlement project which began in 2016 is a commitment by Johor Corporation (JCorp) through its subsidiary Johor Land (JLand) with a cost of RM27.4 million as part of the state government's efforts to solve the problem of flooding and housing.
"The state government has received a subsidy of RM20 million for the housing project which is expected to be completed in two months," he said, adding that most of the families were fishermen. — Bernama
