Umno Youth vice-head ready to contest in GE 14

IPOH: National Umno Youth vice-head Senator Khairul Azwan Harun is prepared to contest in the 14th General Election, which will be called anytime now if directed by the party leadership.
"I am ready to enter the battleground and will leave it to the leadership to make the decision," he added.
When asked whether he is going for a parliamentary constituency or state seat, Khairul Azwan who is also Perak BN youth chief said: "I have no idea ... let the leadership evaluate my performance and decide."
As the second man in the Umno Youth, political circles are expecting the leadership to allocate a seat for him.
He was speaking to reporters after the presentation of food baskets and ang pow to 50 poor recipients by Perak BN Youth here on Wednesday.
Commenting on seats to be given to BN youth members nationwide in the polls, he said: "Our chief (Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar) and I have not set any targets or percentage for the youths to contest.
"But we are confident that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak is aware of the needs and aspiration of the young generation.
"There is a possibility that more new faces will be nominated... maybe an increase in the number of candidates from the previous election," he added.
