BUKIT MERTAJAM: The post-mortem results of a one-and-a-half-month old baby girl revealed that the child had bruises and scratch marks all over her body, including wounds on her private parts.
Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Hamid said the victim who is alleged to have been abused, had bite marks on her hands, and a fractured left thigh and ribs.
He said the victim also had internal injuries, bleeding near to her skull and a swelling in her brain.
Nik Ros Azhan said the external injuries were likely caused by a blunt object.
He said the internal bleeding was believed to have been caused a powerful stomp on her head.
The victim's parents have been remanded for seven days beginning today until Feb 22 to facilitate investigations into the death of the child at Kampung Tok Panjang, Bukit Tengah.
Both the suspects aged 22 were brought to the court house here for remand proceedings earlier in the morning.
Court registrar Nor Hapipah Abdullah granted the remand order for both the suspects to facilitate investigations under the Child Act 2001.
They were detained after the infant died while on the way to the hospital.
