ARAU: The success of Barisan Nasional (BN) in leading the country to this day is a result of the power sharing that has been practiced since long ago, according to Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim.
He said the country was always in a state of peace and harmony.
"If we are busy trying to seize power we will not be able to enjoy what we have today and the country will be in disarray," he told reporters after meeting with Arau's Indian parliamentary voters here last night.
Shahidan, who is also Perlis BN chairman, said BN's success today also greatly benefited all Malaysians regardless of racial differences.
"The opposition seen today is an opposition with false propaganda aimed at influencing the people and surely the people can distinguish what is right," he said.
In another development, Shahidan said he would still contest in Arau, but did not state whether for the Parliamentary seat or the State Legislative Assembly constituency.
He said the decision on the matter would be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
In addition, he said BN was optimistic of recapturing the Indera Kayangan state seat in the coming general election.
"The Indera Kayangan seat belongs to BN so we will seize it back because it is our right," he added. — Bernama
