Woman dies in hit-and-run case, not snatch theft

LUNDU: Police have denied a report on Facebook claiming that an old woman who was found dead at Kampung Sekambal in Jalan Lundu-Pandan here was killed because of a snatch theft.
Lundu District Police Chief, DSP Wong Chee Keong said investigation found that the pedestrian, Demben @ Napiah Ramli, 67, was discovered dead at about 7.40pm yesterday following a hit-and-run case.
"About 7.40pm, the complainant had received a phone call that his mother had been involved in a road accident. The complainant sent his mother to the Lundu Hospital and she was confirmed dead by a medical officer.
"The police investigation found no witnesses saw the incident and no crime or snatch theft was detected. The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said when contacted by Bernama.
Chee Keong said the police was currently tracking the Facebook account owner, who put the case on social media, to help the investigation. — Bernama
