GEORGE TOWN: The case where a female security guard was beaten up on the eve of Chinese New year has been resolved amicably between the two parties, and police consider the case solved.
Northeast district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said the guard has since withdrawn a report she made against the assailants after having a discussion with her employer.
"The complainant who was beaten up also received RM200 in compensation from the assailant involved, and the case has been solved amicably," he said.
The 8.30pm incident happened after three visitors in a car at the guard post of an apartment in Bandar Baru Air Itam were denied entry as they did not have the access card.
One of the visitor, who is the son of a resident staying at the unit was angry after the guard requested he reverse his car.
He then vented his frustration on being denied entry and became unruly, showing obscene gestures and shouting profanities at the victim.
Anuar said statements from both parties have been recorded and the victim admitted provoking the assailant.
From the ensuing scuffle, the guard sustained bruises on her face and hand.
The video of the incident went viral on social media, drawing the ire of netizens.
