KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), through its people-centred economic enhancement programme, "Kasih PKNS Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor", provides over 80 business lots for eligible traders over a period of two weeks since last Wednesday.
Its Corporate Communications manager, Ishak Hashim said the programme held at the PKNS Complex concourse and Shah Alam Convention Centre Mall (SACC Mall) was aimed at helping the asnaf group (those eligible to receive charitable assistance) by providing business lots at reasonable rentals.
"This programme is organised to boost the entrepreneurship agenda for the asnaf group and youths aged below 40 by helping them achieve a wider market for their merchandise.
"Among the products for sale are clothing, dry foodstuff and toys, while 10 food booths are located outside the SACC Mall, offering nasi beriani, pizza and more," he said in a statement, today.
For this year's programme, PKNS is also offering the 4WD Tournament to add variety to the indoor activities, besides the traditionally held street soccer.
"PKNS welcomes participation in the '3 on 3 Street Soccer' tournament for the open and under-17 categories to be held on Feb 24, starting at 8am. It is open to the first 30 early-bird teams in each category, with the entry fee at RM50 per team.
"Those interested can register their participation with Puan Wani by calling 019-3525016 for the chance of winning a cash prize of RM1,500 for the champion team, RM750 for the runners-up and RM400 for third place and fourth place in each category," said Ishak.
The PKNS programme held from 10am to 10pm during the two-week duration includes fashion shows, beauty, flower arrangement and cake decorating demonstrations, and a blood donation drive.
PKNS, established on Aug 1, 1964 to drive the state's economic growth and distribution to promote stability, harmony and social justice, is optimistic that its objectives could be realised through the development of new growth centres, housing, industries, businesses and investment. — Bernama
