Bus driver detained for drug abuse

JOHOR BARU: A bus driver was detained after he tested positive for the drug methamphetamine in a police operation "Ops Selamat 12" held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration at the Larkin Bus Terminal here last night.
Johor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Razak Md Said said checks were done on 25 buses and 30 bus drivers, all men and locals in their 30s, during the operation conducted at the entrance to the terminal.
Following urine tests conducted on the drivers, one of them tested positive for meth, he said in a statement, here today.
He said the check on the buses was done to ensure they were safety compliant, such as being equipped with fire extinguishers and hazard lights.
Eight summonses were issued to the bus drivers for violating traffic regulations, he added. — Bernama
