Kit Siang challenges Liow to prove Bentong claims

GEORGE TOWN: DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang today said he was surprised by MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai's claim that he (Kit Siang) wants to contest in Bentong in the next federal polls.
Denying such a possibility in a statement issued today, Kit Siang, who is Gelang Patah MP, rubbished such a move.
"Can Liow say when I mentioned the possibility of me contesting in Bentong?" Lim said.
"Is Liow making use of me to promote himself?" he asked.
This latest episode comes in the wake of MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong claiming that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng would stand against him in Ayer Hitam in Johor.
Wee had subsequently stated that he was misquoted as he had never even mentioned Guan Eng's name as reported in an English daily.
Guan Eng had also denied that he was planning to contest in Ayer Hitam.
Kit Siang asked Liow whether he had similarly been misquoted as well.
