PETALING JAYA: The Sessions Court here today ordered a wireman to enter his defence on a charge of committing gang-robbery when armed with a machete on a teenager two years ago.
Judge Azwarnida Affandi made the order after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against V. K. Deventra Kumar, 39.
He set March 12 to hear the defence.
Deventra Kumar was charged with another man, who had been sentenced for the offence, with committing gang-robbery when armed with a machete on Moheyedin Muhammad Syaiful Nizam, 17, and robbing the teenager of RM50, two gold chains, two gold bracelets and two gold rings.
The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Jalan PU 1/5, Puchong Utama, Puchong, here at 12.30pm on June 6, 2016.
The charge was made under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to whipping if found guilty.
