31 foreigners including seven-year-old girl nabbed in Miri

MIRI: An employer and 31 foreigners including a seven-year-old girl were detained in an integrated operation at two construction sites here today.
Miri 12th Battalion General Operations Force commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng said the 9.30 am operation at a housing project construction site in Senadin and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) substation construction site in Tudan was carried out in collaboration with the Immigration Department.
"A 27-year-old man from Selangor who is the employer at the SEB substation project site in Tudan was also detained," he said in a statement here today.
Tan said all of the 31 foreigners were held for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/1963 including overstaying, abuse of the social visit pass and entering the country illegally.
"Those detained were taken to the Bekenu Immigration Depot and the case was handed over to the Miri Immigration Department for further action," he said. — Bernama
