Success of country's development is the result of BN govt's teamwork: Salleh

PITAS: Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the country's rapid development and prosperity, as well as the various achievements that received international accolades, were the results of teamwork practised by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
He said they were also achieved because of the solidarity among the Malaysian people of various races and religions who continued to give their mandate to BN to administer the country.
"What we are enjoying today is not the work of an individual, but the result of teamwork. Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), we become the ruling party, we have been in power since independence.
"All these we are able to attain because when we are given power, we use it well to develop the country and also Sabah," he said.
Salleh, who is also Umno treasurer, said this in his speech when opening the Dewan Terbuka Dataran Kg Salimpodon here today.
The event, also attended by Pitas assemblyman Datuk Bolkiah Ismail, was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Festival.
However, Salleh expressed regrets that there were quarters, especially the opposition parties led by "U-turn leaders", attempting to deny the BN government's achievements by telling the people that Sabah was neglected and the promises made during the formation of Malaysia were not fulfilled.
"It is all lies. Since the formation of Malaysia, we have the Malaysia Agreement, we have the Federal Constitution which protects our interests as Sabah people.
"And Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has promised, he said if there is anything that belongs to Sabah that has been taken away, he will return it. So, what's the problem," he said.
Following the promise by Najib, Salleh said a federal- level committee co-chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who is from Sabah, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Nancy Shukri, a Sarawakian, and also a committee in each state, had been set up look into the matter. — Bernama
