Sedic and Indian NGOs sign Corruption-Free Pledge at MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The Socioeconomic Development of the Indian Community (Sedic) and over 150 Indian-based NGOs have signed the Corruption-Free Pledge to ensure the effective delivery of the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) to the community, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam (pix), today.
Subramaniam who also chairs the Cabinet Committee on Indian Community (CCIC) which oversees Sedic, said the signing marks the government's seriousness in making certain that Sedic and its delivery partner fulfill the Prime Minister's promises and pledge to the Indian community.
"We are ensuring Sedic and Indian NGOs under its umbrella are without the taint of graft or corruption within its ranks," he told reporters after witnessing the signing ceremony between Sedic and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the MACC headquarters, here, today.
Also present were Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Loga Bala Mohan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri SK Devamany and Sedic director-general Dr NS Rajendran.
Meanwhile, Dzulkifli called on the Indian community to abide by the three 'V's instead of the three 'J's (Jangan Hulur, Jangan Kawtim, Jangan Settle) (Don't Give, Don't Compromise, Don't Settle) in their battle against corruption.
"Vendaam Hulur, Vendaam Kawtim, Vendaam Settle," he said to the applause of the audience.
Vendaam is the Tamil word for 'don't'.
He warned that those who indulge in corrupt activities while attempting to deliver to the Indian community will not be spared.
"There is always room for the Sedic to cooperate with the MACC in addressing potential leakages from its delivery processes as well," he added.
