KANGAR: The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maips) is committed to becoming an agent of change and progress, said the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail (pix).
Syed Faizuddin, who is also Maips president, said the council as the main body to govern and administer Islamic affairs in the state, would ensure that the change would fulfill the aspirations of the Muslim ummah.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this at the launch of the 2018 Maips Roadmap in conjunction with the council's weekly 'Hijrah Minda' programme in Padang Katong, Kangar last night.
MAIPs chief executive officer, Mohd Nasib Mohd Noor said Maips had set the theme "Generating Progress" to meet its target for the year and had identified six main thrusts to achieve it.
He said they included an increase in distribution of benefits, increase in revenue collection, creating landmarks, recognition and rating, international excellence and organisational strengthening. — Bernama
