SL1M monthly allowance up from RM1,500 to RM2,000 (Updated)

SERDANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak announced that the monthly allowance for Skim Latihan 1 Malaysia (SL1M) will be increased to RM2,000 from RM1,500.
He made the announcement after launching the SL1M’s open interview at Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang today.
“When I arrived, Norashikin Ismail (SL1M’s chief secretariat) told me to announce a special present for SL1M participants. So I would like to announce that the monthly allowance will be increased to RM2,000 from RM1,500,” he announced to the surprised but excited crowd.
More than 5,000 people from government-linked companies (GLCs), government-linked investment companies (GLIC) and SL1M participants attended the launch today.
Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Dr Richard Riot and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
The RM500 increase in allowance is expected to benefit some 25,000 SL1M participants.
