Nabbed: 129 individuals involved in gambling in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The police have detained 129 people in connection with illegal gambling activities during a series of raids between Feb 9 and yesterday, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
The 14 raids, mounted during a state-wide operation dubbed 'Op Limau', were aimed at curbing illegal gambling activities by focusing on individuals and syndicates which advocated gambling activities in open spaces or indoors, said Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd.
Speaking to reporters here today, he said the suspects comprised 108 local men and women, 11 Indonesian men, eight Bangladeshi men, a Pakistani man and an Indonesian woman, aged between 21 and 62.
The police also seized RM114,656 and gambling paraphernalia, among others. — Bernama
