Opposition supporters expected to shift support to Sabah BN

KOTA KINABALU: Most of the voters in Sabah, who have previously supported the opposition, are expected to shift support to the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14), said Democratic Liberal Party (LDP) president Datuk Teo Chee Kang.
He said this was due to their disappointment towards the opposition party leaders who were seen as not having firm principles besides willing to cooperate with those whom they had criticised for their political ends and merely aiming to win in the elections.
"I am confident in the coming GE, many who have previously supported the opposition will think twice because of what is happening recently," he said when met by reporters after the Chinese New Year open house organised by LDP here today.
Elaborating further, he said the trend indicated a positive sign for the BN, which was expected to repeat its history by obtaining a big victory in GE14 in the state.
He said BN was also expected to win in those seats that they lost in the last general election due to marginal votes to form a strong government again.
Teo, who is also Sabah Special Functions Minister, said the trend in the shift of support by opposition party supporters was also seen throughout the country, especially in urban areas.
Over 1,000 guests attended the open house, which was enlivened by the presence of Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and wife Toh Puan Hajah Norlidah R.M Jasni as well as Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman and wife Puan Sri Faridah Tussin. — Bernama
