PPKHAS: RM36.82m for repair, maintenance of 552 schools in Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak has received RM36.82 million under the 2018 School Improvement And Maintenance Using The Special Budget Allocation (PPKHAS) for 552 schools in the state.
A spokesman for the Sarawak Education Department said the schools comprised primary, secondary and religious national schools; fully-residential schools, government-aided religious schools, vocational colleges and secondary technical schools.
The PPKHAS 2018 project includes repair of roofs, sewage system, toilets, piping, water supply, electrical and wiring, fire prevention and fencing, he said in a statement today.
He said the repair and maintenance work involved 833 jobs at 534 national schools, two fully residential schools, 11 government-assisted religious schools and five vocational colleges and secondary technical schools.
The ballot draw for 2018 PPKHAS will be held on Feb 26 and 27 at Auditorium JPNS Kuching for Kuching, Lundu, Bau, Padawan, Samarahan, Serian, and Simunjan; Betong, Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Saratok, Meradong, Sarikei at Dewan SMK Bandar Sibu; Sibu, Julau, Kanowit, Song, Kapit, Selangau, Mukah, Daro, Dalat at Dewan SMK (A) Miri; Bintulu, Tatau, Belaga, Sebauh at Dewan SMK St. Augustine; Miri, Subis, Baram at Dewan Srikandi Pusat Kegiatan Guru, Subis, while Limbang and Lawas at Dewan Serbaguna SMK Kubong, Limbang. — Bernama
