MACC calls for independent body to study corruption index

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has called for the establishment of an independent body to study the country's corruption index in detail.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad (pix) said the proposal had been discussed and agreed upon by the MACC Advisory Board recently.
He said the corruption index could be carried out by any credible third party like universities or non-governmental organisations (NGO).
"There is a misunderstanding. We are not the one who will do the corruption index. It is time for our country to have the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)," he told reporters at a Chinese New Year open house here today. — Bernama
