JOHOR BARU: Nine soldiers who had been remanded to facilitate investigations into the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Kluang in mid-December, were released on police bail today.
Kluang police chief ACP Mohamad Laham said the suspects, aged 19 to 24 years, were granted police bail, pending chemistry and DNA reports.
"As the suspects are civil servants, the investigation papers must also be referred to Bukit Aman's D5 (Prosecution and Legal) Division and the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office for further instructions," he said in a statement here today.
The soldiers were remanded on Feb 23.
