Man charged with carelessly shooting friend to death

GERIK: A man pleaded guilty in the magistrate's court here for carelessly discharging a firearm causing the death of a friend on Feb 18.
Self-employed Mohd Fitri Osman, 26, admitted to the charge before Magistrate Raja Shahril Anuar Raja Baniamin.
He negligently fired a shot with a shotgun causing the death of Mohamad Haniff Mat Zabidi, 24, in the Sungai Tera Forest area, Gerik-Kupang Highway here about 10.30pm on Feb 18.
Raja Shahril Anuar fixed April 2 for mention, pending the post-mortem, medical as well as DNA test reports and set bail at RM12,000 in one surety.
Meanwhile, another friend, Muhammad Azaili Alias, 31, who was charged separately pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal possession of a shotgun and 19 live bullets, an offence under Section 8(a) of the Weapons Act 1960.
He committed the offence at the same place between 7.30am and 10.30pm on the same date. Upon conviction, he faces a maximum seven-year jail sentence or a fine or both
The magistrate set April 2 for mention and set bail at RM12,000 in one surety. — Bernama
